More Evidence For Mutant Species Emergence

Scientists in Canada intentionally added synthetic estrogen to a remote lake and set in motion a chain reaction of mutations.

The science journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences is reporting in a May issue that an experiment has shown that even low levels of estrogen in municipal wastewater can cause wild fish populations to mutate and collapse.

Biologists with the Canadian Rivers Institute at the University of New Brunswick injected synthetic estrogen as found in birth control pills into a Canadian lake to test the proposition that endocrine-disrupter chemicals secreted from human bodies can disrupt fish populations.

After the first summer of exposure to these chemicals, male minnows in the lake began producing egg proteins. Then their sperm cells became undeveloped and the males began producing eggs as well. This impaired ability to reproduce resulted in a collapse of the lake's minnow population in the second year of the study. As National Geographic News reported, "the population even failed to recover in the two years after the researchers stopped adding estrogen, indicating the effects were quite persistent."

"Low concentrations of an estrogen can have very dramatic, very severe effects on fish reproduction," remarked Karen Kidd, a biologist and study leader.

She believes that if her team had continued adding the endocrine disrupter to the lake, that it would have had a similar impact on larger and longer-lived fish such as trout.

As THE HUNDRED YEAR LIE points out, dozens of different types of endocrine disrupting synthetic chemicals just as potent as birth control pills pour into bodies of water from the bodies of humans each and every day. Mutants among species of fish life are harbingers for humans as a mutant species.
